The
New Convert?
A young man comes to faith in Christ, repents, and is
baptized. He is told by his elders/pastors
he is saved and can never lose his salvation.
He then marries. After 25 years he
starts cheating on his wife with a younger woman, unaware or rejecting the Luke
16:18 and Revelation 21:8 warnings it will cost him an eternity in the lake of
fire. Since those who act unrighteously
are lost, will God hold the elders/pastors/teachers who misled him
accountable? Jude 3-7; James 3:1
Unless we can predict the future, how do we know a new
convert will not fall away? And why are
there so many warnings in the Bible against falling away if that is not
possible? The Bible says we must
CONTINUE in righteousness to be saved.
This is really just common sense.
Ezekiel 33:10-20 is a great summary of this timeless truth.
